Multiple Organizations

The same account can belong to multiple organizations in SquadOS. Each organization is a separate context: agents, knowledge bases, conversations, inboxes, automations, people, permissions, and plan settings belong to the organization where they were configured.

Before creating or changing any resource, check the name of the active organization. A person may have a different Role and capabilities in each organization; access to an area in one organization does not grant the same access in the others.

Where to switch organizations

In the classic Hub and Admin Panel sidebars, select the organization name at the top. The Your organizations menu lists the usable organizations you belong to, identifies your Role in each one, and marks the active organization. It remains a menu even when there is only one organization and also offers Create organization and View all organizations.

In the new collaborative Hub experience, the top area shows the active name but does not yet provide the switcher. Open Organizations directly to change context. This interface gap is recorded in this audit’s product bug dossier.

What happens when you switch

When you select another organization from the menu:

1. SquadOS makes that organization active only in the current browser tab;
2. invalidates cached data so the resources for the new context are loaded;
3. keeps the current route open when your Role allows access to it;
4. if the new organization does not authorize that route, the access control redirects you to an allowed area.

Each browser tab keeps its own active organization. You can therefore work with two organizations in separate tabs without a switch changing the other tab. Your profile stores only the last organization used as a preference for a new tab; if it is no longer available, the system chooses the first usable membership.

Check the organization in each tab

Do not use the name shown in another tab as your reference. Check the header or switcher in the current tab before sending messages, editing agents, or changing settings.

Memberships blocked by the plan limit do not appear under Your organizations and cannot be activated. If no usable membership remains, SquadOS opens the restricted-access screen; the organization owner must adjust the plan or available seats.

Use the Organizations page

The authenticated Organizations route brings the available contexts together:

• Active identifies the organization for this tab.
• Enter activates another organization and opens /admin/dashboard. If your Role cannot access the dashboard in the selected organization, access control redirects you to an allowed area.
• Leave appears only for memberships that are not active and opens a confirmation. Read the known limitation below before using it.
• Create organization opens a form with only the name, up to 100 characters.

Superadmins see every platform organization on this page and can enter an organization without a membership. The sidebar switcher still shows only organizations they belong to; other contexts are reached through View all organizations.

Create an organization

Use Create organization in the switcher or on the Organizations page, enter the name, and confirm. Creation:

1. creates an empty organization;
2. makes your account its initial owner;
3. activates the new organization in this tab;
4. opens the admin dashboard.

Settings, agents, bases, channels, and conversations from the previous organization are not copied. Configure the resources required in the new context and invite the appropriate people.

Receive access through an invitation

Accepting an invitation adds a new membership to the existing account; it does not replace or mix the previous organizations. After accepting, use the switcher or /orgs to enter the new context. See Accepting an Invitation for the complete flow.

Leave an organization

Known limitation in the Leave command

In the audited version, Leave may fail for regular users: the page only offers the action for an inactive organization, but the membership authorization policy allows administrative updates only in the active organization. Until the product is corrected, ask an owner or administrator of that organization to remove your membership under Users.

You cannot select Leave for the active organization. Switching to another organization does not remove your access to the previous one; it only changes the tab’s context.

When an administrator removes a membership, the person loses access to that organization’s data. Removal does not delete agents, bases, conversations, or other resources that person created: the data continues to belong to the organization and remains available to authorized people.
